“The Amigo Who Didn’t Make It” Returns

After 25 years of being forgotten as one of the Royals' "Three Amigos," I've been invited to participate in “Wiffle at the Hollow” on July 22nd, benefiting Dayton Moore's “C” You In The Major Leagues Foundation. Please join me and donate to this tax-deductible affair as I’m welcomed back into the Royals’ fold under the guise of a Wiffle ball game and numerous Kansas City charities are helped along the way.

Gubicza, Saberhagen, Curtis.  As this un-doctored, extremely rare, archival photograph that I don’t have permission to use recalls, I was once part of the Kansas City Royals’ holy trinity of pitching prospects known as “The Three Amigos”.  But, whereas Mark Gubicza and Bret Saberhagen went on to illustrious careers, I lost the strike zone, left the organization in disgrace and was dubbed “The Amigo Who Didn’t Make It” by the Kansas City press.  However, twenty-five years later current Royals General Manager Dayton Moore has extended an olive branch and asked me to participate in “Wiffle at the Hollow” on July 22nd, benefiting his “C” You In The Major Leagues Foundation.  Please join me and donate to this tax-deductible affair as I’m welcomed back into the Royals’ fold under the guise of a wiffle ball tournament and numerous Kansas City charities are helped along the way.
