I’m honored to be a Character Champion for the Crown Town Challenge. Mentoring has been a huge part of my life, as a mentee and then as a mentor, particularly now in the C-10 Mentoring & Leadership program through Royals baseball president Dayton Moore’s “C” You In The Major Leagues Foundation.

My goal is to raise $1,250, which will be doubled to $2,500, to provide an entire year of one-on-one mentoring for a high school student, such as my C-10 student, Topher.

Topher is a sophomore this year at Lincoln College Prep. With his freshman year of in-person school getting wiped out because of Covid, Topher — and students like him — is trying to navigate in-person learning again and doing so in a new school. As a C-10 student, Topher is making that adjustment through things he’s learning at our weekly sessions: life and job skills, educational enhancements, hearing from leaders in Kansas City, and taking part in service projects in our community. In a few years, as he’s getting ready to graduate, he’ll have have scholarship opportunities whether he attends school or goes directly into the workforce.

So, any amount you’re able to donate will make a huge difference. Thank you!
